A lovely winter series…

winter series

winter flowers

It’s always a pleasure being featured on one of my favorite wedding blogs.  I collaborated with a lovely team of creative creatures to produce a series of photographs to inspire the winter bride’s wedding bouquet.  Grey Likes Weddings, a beautiful and informative blog, decided to share our photos with their readers.  Thank you Natalie Bowen, from Natalie Bowen Designs, for your beautiful floral design.  And thank you thank you to my amazing make-up artist, Danica Green, stylist, Akasha Enkil, and the lovely model, S.I. Fran.  You ladies are fabulous.  Enjoy these photographs.

Hapa baby

sleepy head

I love it when former wedding clients contact me to photograph the new additions.  My friends and one of my first wedding clients, Phuong and Tommy, just recently welcomed little Miss Audrey Vy into the world.  Naturally, I was enormously flattered that they asked me to photograph her. (Babies are not as demanding as brides.  Hee hee..I swear I’m kidding.) And, I am going to assume that it was a good thing that she passed out during our photo shoot.  Little Audrey is a beautiful blend of Vietnamese, Irish, and Italian. I am sure that she will grow up to be quite the Hapa babe.  Congratulations, Phuong and Tommy!

A new and beautiful year…

pretty bride

2009 was a great year filled with gorgeous brides, handsome grooms, and lots and lots of kisses.  I can’t wait for the new wedding season to start!  So far, I am daydreaming of Carmel Valley, foggy San Francisco I-do’s, sunny Sonoma, and a winter white New England wedding bash.  I want to photograph all the pretty weddings, so send them my way.  Happy New Year!

kisses kisses kisses…

Ashley and Beto

Ashley and Beto

I love kisses.   I especially love that moment right before the kiss.  Lucky for me and the lovely couple above, it’s sealed. Ashley and Beto got married last week in Santa Cruz, CA and I had the pleasure of photographing it.  Congrats you two!

Now, where is my kiss ???

my guilty shoe pleasure…

Elle's pretty shoesIt is true that I do get really overwhelmed when I go shoe shopping and I would prefer running around barefoot.  But one of my absolute favorite details to photograph during any wedding are the bride’s shoes.  And I confess to photographing the bridesmaids’ shoes and if I am really impressed, I may photograph the groom’s shoes as well.  I can’t help it…it’s just what I love to do.   As your wedding photographer, you must allow me this guilty pleasure.  It’s just like chocolate.

those little precious flower gals…

pink parasol

I love how excited and in awe the little flower girls get at weddings.  It’s nice to step back from the bride and groom and photograph those cutie patooties.  I typically like to photograph them when they are unaware because the moment they hear “click” they either want to touch my lens or stand still and stare at me as if it was a school portrait being taken.  Here are some of my faves…

I’m in LOVE with a dress…

the beautiful dressI can’t stop talking about the “Married on MySpace” wedding that I photographed a couple of weeks ago in Santa Monica, CA.  Elle and Tito’s gorgeous wedding is still lingering on.  I am totally in LOVE with Elle’s wedding dress.  It’s SO SEXY and elegant.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE. And I confess, I wonder how dashing I would look in that same dress.  I wouldn’t mind running hand in hand down the beach in it either.  For now, I’ll let Elle show it off in these photographs.  She is so beautiful.

Over-the-top FABULOUS photos…REVEALED

Elle and Tito are finally married, which means I can show off some of my favorite images from their wedding day.  I had to keep everything hush hush before the final “married on myspace” episode aired which was quite a challenge when I have pretty pics to share with everyone.  For those that haven’t read my previous blog entry…I photographed a wedding for a reality show in Santa Monica, CA last week.  Elle and Tito trusted MySpace viewers to choose what they wore, the wedding cake, the venue…the WHOLE bit!  I had the opportunity to work with a film crew and The Knot .  As a wedding photographer, I generally work with one videographer and usually I am kindly telling that person to stay out of my way ;-)   This was not the case for Elle and Tito’s wedding and I found myself squeezed into spaces that sometimes I could barely fit into.  That photo of Elle in the doorway is an example of not being able to fit into a room to photograph her and making it work anyways…HOT shot!!!  Congrats Elle and Tito…the whole experience was FABULOUS!  Here are some of my favorite pics.  You can view more on MySpace if you like.

latte lust…

I have been lusting after lattes all week.  They provide me with enough buzz to sort through a plethora of images.  I’m waiting for that “kumbaya” moment.  that moment when i can step back from the whole experience of shooting a wedding and just sit in awe and look at all the beautiful photos that were taken on that day …taken by yours truly of course ;-)

I photographed a wedding for a reality show “married on myspace” in santa monica, ca last weekend.  everything provided for the bride and groom was a surprise…the wedding dress, the tux, the cake, the WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER!!!

I didn’t know what to expect.  I just knew that I needed to be out of the camera crew’s way and carve out a space where I could capture everything that was taking place.  And when I say “carve” …I mean carve…it was a tight squeeze.  And in some circumstances, my camera position was predetermined by the film crew.  It was a challenging experience and an amazing one because I was able to connect with a beautiful and loving couple without having a prior relationship with them and work with a fantastic group of individuals.

Precious moments, exquisite details, a beautiful couple…I photographed it ALL…and more !!!!

I’ll switch to a BIG glass of malbec this Thursday evening  (August 5th) when the final episode airs and all the beautiful photos are revealed.

For now…you all get to look at my pic of my yummy morning lattes.

i love the quirky and unconventional…

erin's wedding shoes

i had SO much fun photographing Erin and Mark’s wedding.  they were married in Golden Gate park on a rare sunny day in June in San Francisco, CA.  it was a very personal and authentic ceremony and all the little details that characterize any wedding, were over-the-top quirky and fabulous. vegan food (catered by Chef Stephanie), a bouquet that was a blend of feathers, veggies, and flowers, head pieces and shrugs (designed by medina maitreya) , and a BEAUTIFUL wedding dress (designed by Jinza Couture Bridal)  made this wedding one of my favorites this wedding season.  (oh..and erin..your shoes…I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!) want to hook your wedding photographer up with some of those for my feet???
